Within this section is a Projects file with details of what the children have been learning in class and ideas for activities you can complete whilst the school is closed. We will be updating this regularly so please keep checking for any changes or additions.

A message from Miss O'Sullivan

Hello Class 6,

Here we are in the last few weeks of term. I have to say that I am so proud of you all! You have all worked so hard, grown so much and continued to be the amazing little people that you are. Well done!

I hope we get some lovely weather this week and that you are all still ok. This week we have got some more exciting learning for you. In maths we are looking at 2D and 3D shapes. I know you are all really good at remembering your shapes and their properties, so I am looking forward to seeing your work. In English you are going to be reading the book 'Lost in the Toy Museum'. This is one of my favourite books. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I do. You are also going to be applying your knowledge of prefixes and suffixes in these lessons. In your topic lessons you are learning about toys in the Victorian times. There are even a few toys for you to make.

Just a reminder to keep working on your Phonics it is really important to keep remembering your sounds. This will help with your reading and writing. Enjoy your learning but also make sure you have a bit of time to play.

Keep smiling all of you.

 Miss O'Sullivan laugh

Welcome to Class 6

Year 1
Class Teacher: Miss O'Sullivan
Teaching Assistants: Mrs Kidgell

Learning Support Assistant: Miss Moth and Mrs Summerfield

Children in Class 6 are able to change their reading books when they have completed their book. We try to encourage independence, therefore children can change their book on their own.

PE days are Monday and Tuesday.  Please make sure children have their PE kit in school at all times.

Homework will be sent out on a Thursday and then returned on Tuesday. Homework will support the learning taking place in the classroom in English and Maths. To develop your childs fluency and comprehension in a fun and interactive manner, Bug Club is set with books that match your childs ability with enough to challenge their reading.

Phonics sessions take place daily with additional opportunities to read with the class teacher and TA throughout the week. It is expected that the children will read at home at least 3 times a week to encourage fluency and confidence so that they can achieve their full potential.

We are sending out lovely books for you to share with your children. These are books for adults to read to the children. We will be sending the books out on a Friday and they need to be returned on Monday morning.

This term our topics are 'All Aboard' and 'Wonderful world'. In the first half term, children will be learning about different forms of transport. In the second half term, the children will be learning about the wonderful world we live in.

Doors open at 8:40am and children must be in school by 8:50am.

School finishes at 3.10pm and the children are to be collected from the double doors on the main school playground.

Any appointments will need to be made via the class teacher.

For online activities please see the children tab then click learning at home. There are links for the children to use to carry on with their learning.
