Geography

At Ghyllgrove our Geography curriculum is designed to develop pupils’ curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them throughout their lives. Ghyllgrove uses a topic based approach so children will cover a range of Geography topics as well as History and Science. Children will investigate a range of places, both in Britain and abroad to help develop knowledge and understanding of the Earth’s physical and human processes throughout their time at Ghyllgrove.  We provide opportunities for the children to investigate and enquire about our local area, this will support them to develop an understanding the world around them.  We also aim to give our learners strong geographical knowledge along with good enquiry skills that they can apply across the curriculum.

We also link our Outdoor learning and Eco Schools to Geography. Around the school there are planters and pots which the children have helped to create. We also have recycling facilities in all classrooms and shared spaces. Children are encouraged to use these and they learn about why we recycle and the impact of climate change due to human processes.
