We will be learning all about growing herbs and learning about different animals, including humans and what they eat. This is followed by 'Where we live'. We will be exploring the history of Basildon within living memory and looking at geographical landmarks in our school and local area.
PE days are Monday and Thursday. Please make sure children have their PE kit in school at all times. Earrings must be removed otherwise children will not be able to participate in the lesson.
In class expectations
In Class 5 we have very high expectations of exceptional behaviour and attitudes to learning. All children are expected to stay on green by following the school rules, listening carefully and trying their best. However, they should be striving for gold by showing the Ghyllgrove Learning Powers. You should aim to be getting your green certificates to take home every Friday to show your parents how fabulous you have been at school.
All of the staff in Class 5 will work tirelessly to ensure everybody does their best this year. We will regularly hear the children read and set them number challenges too, so look out for updates in the home school diaries. You should also have a Google Classroom log in which will be used for any remote learning.
In order to help your child achieve and accelerate their progress, we ask for the following commitments from you at home too:
Listen to your child read at home 3 times a week using our amazing online Bug Club resource. Records of this must be made in your child’s Home School Diary. Please take the time to put a small note and we will also do the same anytime we hear your child read during the school day. Currently, we cannot send home reading books but Bug Club has been updated and your child will be allocated banded books regularly.
Practise your counting, reading and writing your numbers to 20.
Practise the tricky word Planet sticker at the front of your home school diary.
Please remember to log in daily to Google meet and complete the work on Google Classroom.
