HISTORY

At  Ghyllgrove  we aim for our learning to be meaningful and memorable, so that the children will be able to remember their learning for years to come.  Our children enjoy learning about a variety of historical subjects and events through well planned lessons and the use of good resources and subject knowledge. Through these plans we believe we will create well-rounded, life-long learners who are well prepared for the next step in their life's journey and be ready to tackle any challenges that they may face.

The children will gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain's past as well as the wider world. They will learn about important people and places around the world who have inspired and changed the way we live today. The children will learn about Ancient Egyptians, The Greeks, Mayan people and The Victorians and their way of life as well as events such as The Great Fire of London, to name but a few. The delivery of these topics should stimulate the children's curiosity and they will be encouraged to ask perceptive questions and to think critically.
