Extra Curricular Clubs and School Sport

SPORT

Sport is a key part of school life for all at Ghyllgrove. We are dedicated to providing the very best standards of coaching and teaching across the age ranges, enabling our pupils to develop impressive skills across a wide variety of team and individual sports.

Our goal is to provide every child with the opportunity to participate in sport, helping to maintain a healthy, balanced lifestyle, whilst also ensuring we deliver performances to compete across a wide range of school and regional competitions.

All pupils have the opportunity to sign up for morning and after-school clubs for as little as £1, where they develop the ability to learn as a team and challenge themselves in order to progress. At Ghyllgrove, we believe that being successful in sport can encourage and strengthen success in the classroom.

In the autumn and spring term, our main after-school clubs are football and netball, and these are supplemented with dodgeball and multi-skill clubs in the morning. In the summer term, we provide the children with extra coaching sessions in athletics to prepare the children for district and other school athletic competitions.

Pupils regularly compete in fixtures on the Basildon Sports Competitions calendar and enter football and netball teams in the Basildon School Leagues. Over the last few years, Ghyllgrove has developed an excellent record in competitions across a variety of school sports, and most recently won the year 5/6 Basildon Boys football tournament, where we progressed to represent Basildon at Billericay FC in November of this year.
